‘Tana-Wana’
Limited edition serigraph | AP 45 x 66 cms Anil's work titled ‘Tana-Wana’ is a window to the city of Ahmedabad, also known as ‘Manchester of the East’. Tana-Wana meaning warping and wefting (textile weaving technique) revolves around the history of the textile mills in Ahmedabad and the glory it brought to the city. The backdrop has the cityscape of Ahmedabad which consists of the textile mills, educational institutions like IIM-Ahmedabad and heritage buildings such as the Sarkhej Roza and the shaking minarets. The floral pattern in the entire work depicts fabric, a metaphor for the textiles of Ahmedabad. The lower half consists of an antique weaving shuttle, a fundamental tool used by weavers. |
