Born and raised in a suburban town, surrounded by nature, I have witnessed the changes that have taken place around me. As time moves on, every second brings about a change in the world that we live in. There is a change in the society and the environment. Being a member of the Naga Tribal Community, issues surrounding growth, abandonment, ruin, and survival have affected the way my work has developed.
I believe every medium has its own venerability and I long to explore and bring out the beauty within it and look into the areas of compatibilities between forms, objects and materials. My preference is to use naturally found objects and juxtapose forms with such objects to create poetic visuals. I use terracotta, wood, branches, twigs, and paper. Non-conventional materials are my most favourite mediums to work with. My objective is to use fragile materials that have been found and translate them into more cohesive forms to create artwork. In my recent work I explore the theme of changing environments. Using found objects both industrial and natural, I try to construct environments that tacitly respond to the process and forces shaping growth and life of contemporary cities. |
